Outside my window - It is dark now, but early today, there was blue sky and sunshine. It got up to about 40 degrees. No snow or rain in the forecast, at least until the end of the week.
I am wearing - my pjs now, but earlier today I was in a plaid flannel, Old Navy shirt and jeans.
I am watching - a PBS Masterpiece - Around the World in 80 Days. Earlier I watched an online sermon from a church a friend of mine attends. I missed my own church service on Zoom, so I listened to this. Thank you, Faith, for sharing your church services. The message on prayer was a good one. I also watched this interview with Victor Davis Hanson. I don't agree with him completely, but I do find Dr. Hanson very knowledgeable, interesting and thought provoking. I recently completed two online classes he taught through Hillsdale College.
I am reading - a bunch of different things, including scriptures, several scripture study books and devotionals, a non-fiction psychology book and an interesting mystery/suspense book I just started.
I am loving - that we got our plane tickets for an upcoming spring break trip. I am hoping that Covid doesn't ruin our travel plans.
I am thinking - about all of the interesting books I hear about and want to read, but don't have enough time or money to buy them all (because many are not in the library).
I am feeling - not great today. I didn't sleep well and was achy and tired most of the day. I am hoping for a good night's sleep tonight.
I am grateful - that Josh has a job interview tomorrow for a job that will probably count for the internship he has to complete as his final requirement for his Ensign College degree.
Now, here is a little recap of our weekend:
Friday I had to keep both of the windows in my classroom wide open all day, even though it was only about 50 degrees outside. I think that bundling up and keeping classroom windows will be the new normal due to a severe Covid spike in Utah. By the end of the day, our principal had made the announcement to everyone, that we are now under a county mask mandate and beginning Monday all students and staff will have to wear masks 100% of the time in school. We have so much Covid in the school, it is expected that we may also begin "test-to-stay" protocol, which means that all students and staff (vaccinated or not) will have to have a weekly negative Covid test to be in school.
Because of the mask mandate and explosive Covid situation, my cousin and I decided to postpone meeting up for lunch on Saturday. Her 26-year-old son refuses to get vaxxed and I know she worries about bringing something home to him. After consulting with other members of our church book group, we decided to postpone that meeting (which was going to take place on Thursday) until next month, when, (hopefully) things will have improved.
Saturday, Charly and I went out for a morning walk. The sun was shining and it wasn't particularly cold. Most of the snow has melted from the streets and sidewalks. We had a nice walk, and listened to a new audiobook that I just borrowed (digitally) from the library - Daring Greatly by Brene Brown.
After lunch, Charly and I went to a couple of book stores we had received gift cards for as Christmas gifts. Charly's gift card was for Barnes and Noble so we went to the largest B & N store in our area and Charly found several books he wanted.
I got a gift card to a Christian bookstore (from Josh), and I got a couple of scripture study books I had been wanting, including this one which is a devotional book that explores in depth one verse from almost every chapter in the Old Testament.
I also stopped on the way home and filled the car and ran it through the car wash. I love having a clean car.
Saturday evening, I fixed homemade bacon-cheese burgers for dinner. I had a large green salad on the side. After dinner, Charly and I listened to the last lecture in the Hillsdale College Class on Winston Churchill that I have been taking. I have now finished all the lectures and I passed the final exam. One more class finished and I still have quite a few to go, but I am making progress, and learning a lot.
Sunday morning I slept later than usual because I had a hard time getting to sleep Saturday night. I woke up feeling horrible. I couldn't tell if it was the lack of sleep or something else. I decided to schedule a drive-through Covid test, but none of the testing sites are open on Sunday. I usually fast solids for breakfast on the weekends, so I had a drink of Zipfizz and then this cup of Pero/Chocolate. I read scriptures, my Come Follow Me study and a few blogs, but didn't even watch church on Zoom. I just did not feel good, although I will say that the Pero/Chocolate did help a bit. Later, I decided to break my fast early and eat something and take some vitamins and Advil. I also drank a Vit. C immune system booster (store brand Emergen-C). All of that helped quite a bit. I am convinced that the osteo - arthritis I have is the reason I sometimes don't feel 100%.
Sunday afternoon, I laid down and took an almost 90 minute nap. That isn't something I do often, but obviously, my body needed some rest after last night.
Dinner on Sunday evening was spaghetti and meatballs with green salad and broccoli.
I made a bread pudding for dessert. I like bread pudding. My mother used to make it when I was growing up.
I exercised downstairs on Sunday, not because the weather was bad, but because by the time both Charly and I both felt like walking, it was time to fix dinner, and then it was too dark to walk. I exercised a little before dinner, and then finished my workout after dinner. By that time, I was feeling just fine - after a nap, a good dinner and a little exercise.
That's it for this weekend. Thanks for stopping by. My hope is that we all have a good week and stay well.
